There’s nothing like winding down on the weekend by indulging your skin in some well-deserved TLC with a facial that'll rival an in-office treatment. If your skin’s feeling the stress causes by maskne, long hours of screen time and a lax schedule, it’s time to give it more than the usual cleanse-tone-moisturise. We got four celebrity skincare experts and facialists from around the world to share step-by-step routines to give yourself a facial at home, when you can’t head over to the pros. Go on, take your pick and pamper yourself, guided by the best in the business.

Firming at-home facial by Joanna Czech

New York-based Joanna Czech has celebrity clients like Kim Kardashian West and Bella Hadid. She is famous for her lifting massage techniques.  

  1. Cleanse your face of any other products that may still be on your skin from earlier in the day. Next up, go in for a double cleanse using an oil-based cleanser followed by a detoxifying mask. “I love Environ’s Dual Purpose Pre Cleansing Oil followed by their Hydrating Clay Mask. The oil will soften sebum and dehydrated patches and the mask will detach everything. This is a great time for a massage either using a facial massager or doing one manually. The massage stimulates blood flow, bringing more oxygen to the tissue and it increases the efficacy of the products that follow.” Clean your skin with “a linen washcloth as this adds gentle micro exfoliation.”

  2. Czech suggests using an exfoliating toner next. “Apply a balancing toner—this will help balance the skin’s pH level as well as acting as a gentle micro exfoliator. I love the Biologique Recherche Lotion p50. It comes in six different strengths, so use the one that is best for your skin condition.”

  3. She suggests using a firming sheet mask or cream mask for 20 minutes. Her favourites include the 111Skin Celestial Black Diamond Lifting + Firming Sheet Mask, Biologique Recherche Biomagic Cream Mask and Meder Arma-Lift Sheet Masks.

  4. Firming facials usually require more than a basic face massage as part of your treatments for visible results at home. “After removing your firming mask, use a LED Red Light for 20 minutes. This stimulates collagen production, increasing elasticity of the skin and creates a more even skin tone and increases elasticity.”

  5. Follow this up by patting in a hydrating and lifting serum into your face and neck. Once the serum sinks in, finish your facial with a moisturizer of your choice
