Who Created Pumpkin Peel?

Protective Nourishment was founded in 1991 by Yong Lee, along with celebrity makeup artist Ilona Herman. The line was created for damaged and aging skin, combining natural fruit extracts that are high in antioxidants and vitamins, including pumpkin, cranberries, blueberries and pomegranate, with naturally derived acids such as Glycolic, Lactic, peptic leader EGF, and tightening agent Matrixyl 1000-3000.

Their Pumpkin Peel is one of my go to products.

What Makes Pumpkin Peel Special?

This is my favorite for breakouts. It has pure pumpkin extract and 5 percent glycolic acid and can be used weekly as a mask or to spot-treat breakouts as needed. I like that while it pulls out impurities  it doesn’t dehydrate the skin or cause hyperpigmentation.

It is  a great enzymatic spot treatment. Enzymatic exfoliants are different from other exfoliants. They exfoliate using enzymes rather than abrasive granules. Enzymes help to break down the keratin in the skin's upper layers, which helps it lift off anything dead Since enzymes will only digest the dead skin cells, it won't over exfoliate your complexion like other products could. This means that anyone with sensitive skin can benefit from using one of these. It's exfoliation but on a much gentler level.

Many spot treatments contain benzoyl peroxide, which can cause dehydration not only on the spot, but around it, as well. In turn, this dehydration can lead to discoloration. The natural enzymes in pumpkin help dissolve the breakout without dehydrating the spot or the skin around it, avoiding discoloration and keeping it hydrated.

When used as a mask, this multi-tasking product, that is made with a few natural and highly effective ingredients, also helps brighten, lift and firm the skin;  a must have in one’s beauty arsenal.

How Should I Apply It?

Apply to clean skin and leave on for 10 minutes.  Rinse with cool water. Avoid eye area.  Any sensitive skin may be patch tested before use on the entire face.

Do not over apply -- a little goes a long way.

Due to the Pumpkin Peel being preservative-free in nature, idle use of product can lead to product contamination. It is recommended to use the product within 3 months, keep the cap closed, and within cool temperatures.
