Squalane: A plant based emollient that mimics our skin's natural oil making it a superb moisturizer. It is also packed with antioxidants to provide protection for skin. Ours is derived from fermented sugar cane through sustainable manufacturing processes. It is non-comedogenic & helps improve skin elasticity, enhances the skin barrier, & reduces the appearance of wrinkles & fine lines through moisturization.
Butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter: A plant lipid extracted from the fruit of the Shea tree, it is used as a moisturizer to protect & replenish the skin. Shea butter provides the cream with its rich texture & replenishes the skin with saturated & unsaturated fatty acids, both essential to healthy-looking skin. It softens, smoothes & seals in moisture. Shea butter also contains high concentrations of antioxidants including vitamin A & E, quercetin, epicatechin gallate, gallocatechin, & epigallocatechin. Ours is non-GMO, readily biodegradable & Proposition 65 compliant.
Cetearyl olivate: An emulsifier made with fatty acids from olive oil & sugar used to maintain the cream’s carefully crafted balance of oils &water. When mixed with sorbitan olivate the combination mimics the skin’s lipid bilayer promoting affinity with the skin to improve absorption.
Sorbitan olivate: An emulsifier containing fatty acids from olive oil & sugar used to maintain the cream’s carefully crafted balance of oils & water. When mixed with cetearyl olivate, the combination mimics the skin’s lipid bilayer promoting affinity with the skin to improve absorption. Ours is COSMOS approved, biodegradable & non-comedogenic.
Castor Seed Oil: A non-irritating & moisturizing plant oil, demonstrated to hydrate the skin & help decrease visible redness. Castor oil is unusually high in ricinoleic acid which provides a unique chemical structure, allowing the oil to be both hydrophilic (water-loving) & lipophilic (fat-loving). This delivers better hydration into the surface layers of the skin than other vegetable oils, thereby providing deeper moisturization & protection. Only the highest grade castor oil, per the International Castor Oil Association (ICOA) industry specifications, are used in RESTORE®️ products. The oil is obtained from seeds (castor beans) by hydraulic pressing. No solvents are used to extract the oil.
Jojoba esters: An emollient used to improve skin hydration & skin barrier function with important plant-derived fatty acid derived from jojoba seed oil. Ours is biodegradable, non-GMO, COSMOS approved & non-comedogenic.
Cetearyl alcohol: An emollient derived from coconut fat used to improve skin hydration & the texture of the cream. Ours is non-GMO & Proposition 65 approved.
Behenyl alcohol: A plant-derived emulsifier & emollient from rapeseed oil used to build the luxurious feel of the cream & provide a protective layer on the skin to help prevent water loss. Ours is preservative free, non-GMO & Proposition 65 compliant.
Glycerin: An important natural component of the skin & a powerful humectant, studies show glycerin combined with emollients speed healing, reduce irritation & restore normal skin barrier function by maintaining appropriate water levels in the skin.
Levulinic Acid: This is a plant based preservative that can also be transformed by our skin biome into other helpful substances, including the moisturizing ingredient trehalose.
Sorbic Acid: Most commonly used as a food preservative, it is an organic compound derived from the Rowan tree that has strong antimicrobial capabilities.
Benzoic Acid: A commonly used antimicrobial preservative in food & beverages with inhibitory effects on the proliferation of bacteria & yeasts. It is naturally present in plants (fruits, nuts, spices & vegetables), fungal & animal tissues, but it can also be produced by microorganisms during food processing and/or be added as a food additive.
Allantoin: An extract from urea used to soothe the skin, it occurs naturally in our body & in plants such as wheat germ & comfrey roots. In addition to moisturizing the skin, it is a gentle keratolytic & helps minimize dehydration & promotes cell turnover. It also enhances the efficacy & appeal of dermatological & cosmetic formulations by helping to protect skin & providing necessary moisture that results in softer & more supple skin. It's an effective anti-irritant, protecting the skin & alleviating the irritating potential of harsh surfactants, oils & acidic or alkaline materials.
Ceramide NG: This mimics the ceramides that are present in our skin, preserves epidermal water content, strengthens the cohesion force of epidermal cells, & repairs & restores skin barrier function.
Xanthan gum: A thickening & stabilizing agent made from the fermentation of plant-derived sugars.
Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Extract: A natural & edible ingredient used in skin care primarily for its antioxidant benefits. It is a source of catechins (also known as polyphenols), which have antioxidant activity & serve as skin-soothing agents. Despite vanilla’s unique & familiar scent, this version is one of the few in vanilla plants considered non-sensitizing even on skin prone to eczema as determined by a safety assessment of different types of vanilla by the Cosmetic Ingredient Review Board.
Sodium Hydroxide: Highly alkaline ingredient used in small amounts to establish & hold a stable pH for the product.
