Royal Fern

While the simple, clean packaging and subtle fresh scent first drew me to German dermatologist Dr. Timm Golueke’s skincare brand Royal Fern, ultimately, the science behind the products and their effects on the skin are what made me want to use and carry them. 

The royal fern, the basis for the brand, has been around for over 400 million years, withstanding drastic climate changes and natural disasters while continuing to grow in new habitats on every continent. Through it all, it has remained an evergreen - it is extremely resistant to UV radiation and environmental pollution and is a moisture reservoir.

Dr. Golueke, came across a study that examined the use of fern extracts in the complementary treatment of melanoma patients- with encouraging results. Upon further research, Dr. Golueke found several studies proving that fern extracts contain valuable substances that positively affect all symptoms of genetically determined and environmental skin aging. 

The patented Royal Fern Complex took years to develop. It  combines powerful fern extract with four  active botanicals that together possess antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and moisture - regulating properties while also stimulating cell-growth. The products are supplemented with some of my favorite ingredients for skin health including hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, vitamin A and vitamin E.
